On a flat surface, lay the awning arms and roller bar near the top of the awning fabric. The brake lever must be on the right side.
Slide the awning's left arm into the end of the roll bar. Line up the holes and fasten them to the arm using one of the quadrex drive screws, 1/4-20- by 7/16-inch. If you're installing the Simplicity model awning, repeat the steps on the right arm.
Slide the right arm into the end plug, and hook the remote lock over the brake lever if you're installing the Spirit or Fiesta awning. Line up the brackets in the arm and the end plug, and fasten them using a quadrex drive screw.
Mount the bottom mounting brackets so that they straddle the trim at the floor line of the camper. Screw them into the outside wall using lag screws, 1/4- by 2 1/2-inches. The brackets should be situated so that the screws are in a horizontal line from each other.
Measure from the awning rail to the bottom mounting brackets. Adjust the length of the awning arms so that the distance from the center of the roller to the foot is the same length as the distance from the awning rail to the bottom mounting brackets.
Feed the edge of the canopy into the awning rail. Another person is needed to "walk" the arms, for the awning to accept the canopy.
Lift the arms and make sure the foot is secure in the bottom bracket. Repeat for the other side.
Hold the roll bar firmly, and carefully pull the safety cotter pin from the left end of the roll bar. Allow the fabric to slowly roll upwards, or the tension could make it snap. Remove the strap holding the brake lever.
Open the awning 12 to 18 inches so that it pulls away from the wall, so you can install the upper mounting brackets. Make sure the bracket straddles the awning rail, and attach it to the vehicle using two lag screws, 1/4- by 3-inches. The screws may go through the flat part of the awning rail.
Let the awning roll up. Observe the center line of the roll bar to see if it's level with the center line of the awning rail. The bottom of the roll bar cannot be higher than the awning rail. Adjust the arm length. Mark the position hole directly below the upper channel.
Insert a quadrex head screw, 1/4-20- by 7/16-inches, with a star washer, through the hole. Slip the centering spacer over the screw, inside the mounting hole. Secure this with a 1/4-20 cap nut. Repeat for the other arm.
Secure the canopy fabric or Alumaguard using one No. 6 hex-head screw, 3/8-inch, at both sides of the awning.
