      According to the Dalton Convention and Visitors Bureau, Fort Mountain State Park features a sand beach on a 17-acre mountain lake, boat rentals, miniature golf and miles of hardwood forest trails for hikers, mountain bikers and horseback riders. RV campsite rates are about $25 as of March 2010, and not all sites are available through the winter months.

    Chattanooga South KOA

    • Chattanooga South KOA is a 21-acre campground located about 16 miles northwest of Dalton at the border of Georgia and Tennessee. The campground offers 150 RV sites with 50-amp electric, water, sewer, cable TV, telephone and modem hookups as well as wireless Internet access.

      According to AAA, Chattanooga South KOA features a playground, a pool, a recreation room, horseshoes and an on-site convenience store. Rates range from $30 to $80 as of March 2010, depending on seasonal availability and hookups requested.

      The RV park is within 5 miles of two Civil War battle sites: the Battle of Chicamauga and the Battle of Chattanooga. It is also within driving distance to Ruby Falls, Rock City, Incline Railroad, Discovery Museum, "Southern Belle" Riverboat and the Chattanooga Choo Choo.

    Doll Mountain Campground

    • Located in the Northern Georgia mountains on Carters Lake, Doll Mountain Campground is about 20 miles southeast of Dalton, Georgia. According to "RV Reviews," the campground offers 57 RV sites with 50-amp electric and water hookups.

      Amenities include laundry facilities, showers, a playground, a basketball court and a boat-launch ramp. Doll Mountain Campground is known for its undeveloped Carters Lake shoreline and wealth of outdoor recreational opportunities such as hiking, mountain biking, hunting, fishing and boating.

      RV site rates range from about $10 to $25 as of March 2010. Reservations are necessary with a two-day notice. The campground requires a two-night minimum stay on weekends and a three-night minimum stay on holiday weekends.
