How to Stay At Yosemite National Park Hotel and Lodges

Lodging in a Yosemite National Park hotel is a personal preference. Some people like the idea of camping at the California park, but others like the comfort available at a traditional park lodge. If you would rather stay in a Yosemite National Park hotel, you will need to sift through several lodging options.

Check the hotel options at the website nationalparkreservations.com/yosemite. All reservations for park hotels and lodges can be made through the site. Some of the notable hotels are the Wawona, Curry Village, the Yosemite View Lodge, the Days Inn and the Chateau Du Sureau. Each one lists its current prices and reservation details.

Pick a hotel based on how long you plan to stay at the park. Staying at a hotel in the middle of Yosemite is the best way to see the most sights, but they are the most expensive option. A park hotel out of the valley may be a better choice if you plan to spend a week or more. It will be close enough to get to the attractions on your own pace and less expensive.

Book the hotel reservation as far in advance as possible. Some of the hotels require reservations months in advance during peak vacation months. In September of 2011, the main website was already promoting reservations for Labor Day of 2012. Some camp sites in Yosemite also require advance booking.

Plan the trip around the facilities of the Yosemite lodge you choose. If you choose to stay at a resort style hotel, you will have more freedom to eat when you want and what you want. If you stay at a bare bones park hotel, it is not likely to be near many food or entertainment outlets.
