Bass River State Forest, located slightly inland from the Atlantic Ocean, has 176 camping sites for both trailers and tents. Each site has its own picnic table and fire pit, and offers easy access to flush toilets, showers and laundry facilities. The campsites are open year-round, but the dump station is only open March 1 to November 30. Also available are six campsites for groups that have water and pit toilets within walking distance. Campers can also opt to stay in lean-tos with hardwood floors and stoves, or six shelters with bunk rooms located along Lake Absegami. Another lodging option is six lakeside cabins that have living rooms and bed rooms, fireplaces, and kitchens with running water, stoves, refrigerators, and bath rooms with showers. There is access to swimming and boating on 67-acre Lake Absegami. The park also has a hiking trail that winds through a pine forest and a small bog.

Spread out over 110,000 acres and the largest state park in New Jersey, Wharton State Forest in South Jersey has multiple streams and rivers that offer guests canoeing, kayaking and fishing opportunities. There are also hiking, mountain bike and horseback riding trails as well as plenty of wildlife viewing. Another feature is the Batsto Village, which demonstrates glass making in the 18th and 19th centuries. Wharton State Forest has two main developed campsites for tents and RVs. The Atsion campground, which also has a popular swimming beach, has 50 sites for tents and trailers that come with fire rings picnic tables, potable water, flush toilets and showers. The Godfrey Bridge campground, which has 49 tent and trailer sites, has potable water, picnic tables, fire rings and pit toilets. Wharton State Forest also has five primitive camping areas, all of which have pit toilets.

Situated on the edge of New Jersey's huge Pine Barrens forest and 10 minutes east of Vineland, Parvin State Park is in the southwestern part of the state. The park has 56 campsites for tents and trailers with amenities such as picnic tables, fire rings and hooks for lanterns. Located adjacent to the camping sites are showers, flush toilets, a playground for children and a laundry facility. There is also a dump station available. Guests can opt to stay in two-bedroom cabins that come with fireplaces and kitchens with stoves. Built in the 1930s, Parvin State Park has three lakes: Thundergust Lake, Parvin Lake and Muddy Run. All are popular for fishing and boating. Swimming is also allowed in Parvin Lake.
