Country Road Cabins in Summersville Lake, West Virginia

If you want to stay close to home when on vacation, but yet long for a year-round playground, West Virginia is an excellent choice. Summersville Lake is located in the south central part of the state, about an hour's drive from Charleston. The lake was built by the Army Corps of Engineers to reduce or eliminate flooding and to promote a wildlife sanctuary in the Kanawha River Basin. The Country Road Cabins are only minutes from the lake in a private wooded setting. They are within easy distance of a variety of outdoor activities, including hiking, whitewater rafting, fishing, rock climbing, scuba diving, fishing, water skiing, snow skiing, tubing, golf and the newest activity--a canopy tour, which includes zip lines, cable bridges, rappelling and treetop observation stands. All the cabins are made of log, have either a gas or woodburning fireplace, a hot tub and covered porch. Weekend rates start at $225 per night (2010 rates).
