Tybee Island, Georgia, is located 18 miles from Savannah. Set along the Atlantic Ocean along a 3-mile stretch of beach, Tybee Island is a resort town with a laid-back feel. Though smaller than Savannah, the island pulls in its fair share of tourists. For those visiting, as well as for its residents, Tybee Island offers an array of restaurants in which to dine.

      The Crab Shack, serves seafood in a festive, laid-back atmosphere. Snowcrabs, Alaskan King Crab, oysters, boiled shrimp and New England style clam chowder are but a few of the options there. The restaurant has also added Gator Lagoon where the young and young at heart can feed alligators (from the safety of a platform).

      While soaking in views of the Atlantic, guests of MacElwee's Seafood House, can dine on beer-battered seafood, seafood pasta, oysters on the half shell, fried mushrooms, buffalo shrimp and Cole slaw. There is a full bar and if your party has any land lovers tagging along, burgers, steaks and chicken are also available.

      Lighthouse Pizza is in a quaint location with indoor and patio seating. Specializing in pizza, its crusts are made either thin or hand-tossed and meats, vegetables and a variety of sauces can be added. Signature pizzas include the Chicken Alfredo Pizza with grilled chicken, mushrooms, tomatoes, onions and Alfredo sauce. Calzones, ravioli, manicotti and more are also on the menu.

    • Finish off a meal at The Sugar Shack with the snack that started the restaurant, ice cream.

      The Sugar Shack has been a Tybee Island institution since 1971 when it began as an ice cream shack. Purchased and transformed by the Grosse brothers, the full service restaurant now serves breakfast, lunch, dinner and still true to its roots, ice cream. Sandwiches such as fresh carved turkey and roast beef, popcorn shrimp, subs, chili cheese fries, grilled chicken, buffalo wings and burgers are on the menu at the Sugar Shack.

    Something for Every Taste Bud

    • There is something for every dinner in Tybee Island.

      The Hunter House Restaurant is set inside a Victorian beach house and is part of the Hunter House Inn. Dine on New York Strip Steak, pot roast, local black grouper, ahi tuna and boneless skinless chicken just to name a few. Complete your Southern dining experience by having a glass of wine or dessert, perhaps the key lime pie.

      Fannie's on the Beach serves up beach views along with its variety of menu items. Whether gourmet pizzas such as the zesto pesto pizza, fish tacos, quesadillas, chicken wings, sandwiches or burgers are desired, they can be found at Fannie's as well as a full service bar.
