Dolphin Tours in Tybee Island, Georgia

Visiting the ocean is an activity for the whole family, but what better way to cap it off than hopping on a charter boat, heading into the water and seeing some wild dolphins jump so close to you that you can almost touch them. One of the places dolphins frequent is the gulf surrounding Tybee Island in Georgia. There are several opportunities for you and your family to see these animals on one of the island's dolphin tours.
  1. Captain Mike's Dolphin Tours

    • Captain Mike's Dolphin Tours is the most popular of the Dolphin Tours on Tybee Island. The tours each run approximately one to 1-1/2 hours, and cost under $20 (2010), with children's admission less expensive. While you are not allowed to feed the dolphins, you can watch them closely as they will likely come up to the boat. The tour departs from Lazaretto Creek Marina and heads toward the Atlantic Ocean. The tour will pass the historic fishing village, the Cockspur and Tybee lighthouse, and Fort Pulaski. Besides dolphins, you will likely see other wildlife, such as sea turtles and rare birds. There are three boats, and they depart throughout the day.

The tour takes you all around Tybee Island to experience historic Fort Pulaski, the old lighthouses and North Shore. See bottle-nosed dolphins and other animals in their natural habitats. Sweet Lowland Tybee Tours

    • The Sweet Lowland Tybee Tours is the most unfamiliar of the Tybee dolphin tours. A single captain pilots a single vessel. However, because of the simplicity of his operation, he is able to take you to places other dolphin tours won't allow, such as the intercoastal waterway, the ocean, sounds, rivers and small creeks. Captain Harvey has been boating the area for more than 55 years. The tours range from two to six hours, and each is a distinctive experience.
