Located in Chatham County, Tybee Island, Georgia is approximately 15 miles east of Savannah. The community of Tybee Island is known for its public beach, and for attractions like the Tybee Island Lighthouse and Museum. Visitors to Tybee Island have numerous options for accommodations located within an hour of the beach. Among these are public and private campgrounds, which offer sites for both recreational vehicle and tent camping.
Owned by the city of Tybee Island, the River's End Campground & RV Park is located at the intersection of Fort Avenue and Polk Street, just three blocks from the beach. The campground features 12 sites for tent-camping, five vacation cabins and 95 recreational vehicle sites. The RV sites include 24 pull-throughs. Each of the sites measure 20 feet by 40 feet in size. All but 12 of the RV campsites offer full electric, water and sewage hookups with the remaining spaces offering only water and electricity. Cable television connections are also available at each RV site. The tent-camping sites do not offer hookups of any kind. Guests can access wireless Internet throughout the park. On-site amenities include restrooms, showers, a sewage waste dump and a laundry facility. Propane, basic groceries, firewood and RV supplies are sold on the property. Guests can enjoy the campground's swimming pool and game room. The campground operates all year. The campground has a two-night minimum stay during the summer months and three-night minimum for holiday weekends and special events.

Located in Savannah, Skidaway Island State Park is around 25 miles from Tybee Island (approximately 37 minutes by automobile). A public facility run by the Georgia Department of Natural Resources, the campground offers 87 campsite for camping in tents or recreational vehicles. All of the campsites are gravel pull-throughs that measure around 40 feet by 110 feet in size. Electric and water hookups are available at each site as well as cable television connections. Although campsite sewage hookups are not provided, the campground has a sewage waste dump for campers' convenience. Restrooms, showers, picnic areas, a laundry facility and free wireless Internet are also offered. The park features horseshoe pits, three playgrounds and two hiking trails: a 1-mile nature trail, and a 3-mile hiking trail. The state of Georgia limits all stays at the park to a maximum length of 14 days. The campground operates year-round.

Also located in Savannah, Bellaire Woods Campground is a privately-owned campground approximately 33 miles from Tybee Island (about 44 minutes by automobile). The campground has 139 recreational vehicle campsites, of which 79 are available for short-term rental by vacationers rather than seasonal or long-term residents. Approximately 55 of the short-term campsites are pull-throughs, each measuring 24 feet by 60 feet in size. Full electric, water and sewage connections are offered at 62 of the short-term sites, with the remaining spaces providing only water and electricity. Wireless Internet is accessible throughout the camp, and every space can connect to cable television service. The campground's amenities include restrooms, showers, a sewage waste dump and a laundry facility. An on-site store sells propane, RV supplies and basic groceries. The Ogeechee River flows past the camp for swimming and fishing. A boating ramp and dock are available, and the park rents boats. Also located on the property are a swimming pool and playground.
