Year-round Georgia Campgrounds

In Atlanta, Georgia's capital city and cultural center, you can watch a Broadway play, go to the ballet, take in a symphony orchestra performance, learn about Martin Luther King Jr. and look at European, American and African art. You can also watch professional football, basketball, hockey and baseball games. In other parts of the state, such as in north Georgia, you'll find state parks, lakes and rivers where you can hike, canoe, swim, fish, boat or ride a mountain bike. Many year-round campgrounds in Georgia lie near the state’s artistic and outdoor activities.
  1. Etowah River Campground

    • Etowah River Campground sits on the banks of the Etowah River, in which campers can fish during the summer and winter. Located in Dahlonega, the campground is close to Lake Lanier, Holly Theater, the Appalachian Trail, Amicalola Falls State Park and the Dahlonega Gold Museum Historic Site. The campground has 62 campsites, many of which feature views of the Etowah River. All of the campsites have water, electrical and sewer connections, as well as picnic tables and fire pits. The campground offers a playground for young guests.

    Georgia Mountain Fairgrounds

    • The campground at the Georgia Mountain Fairgrounds is in Hiawassee, near the Licklog Players Community Theatre, Fun World at Fieldstone, Brasstown Bald, and Crane Creek Vineyards. At the fairgrounds, campers can attend regional festivals and celebrations, such as the Miss Georgia Mountain Fair Pageant and the Georgia Mountain Fall Festival. The campground sits near Lake Chatuge, where guests can go swimming, fishing, canoeing and boating. The campground features a boat launch area, garden space, tennis courts, pavilion area with picnic tables, and two playgrounds. Some of the campground's 189 campsites sit on the shores of Lake Chatuge. Many sites have full electrical, water and sewer hookups and offer cable TV and wireless Internet access.

    Hillside Bluegrass RV Park

    • The Hillside Bluegrass RV Park is in Cochran, near Middle Georgia College, Cochran Motor Speedway, Museum of Aviation, Ocmulgee Public Fishing Area, Flint RiverQuarium and the Jimmy Carter National Historic Site. The campground hosts bluegrass musical festivals twice a year. The camping facility is equipped with fishing pond, amphitheater, pavilion areas with picnic tables, clubhouse with banquet room, playground, basketball and volleyball courts, and horseshoe pit. The campground sells ice, firewood and propane and also has a bike-rental service. At the campground, you can hike and view animals on the on-site nature trails. The campground has 343 campsites, some of which have full hookups and cable TV and wireless Internet access. The camping facility also rents out cabins, which have picnic tables and sleeping space for two to four people.
