Campgrounds in Ellijay, Georgia

The city of Ellijay is known for its vast apple orchards, and is often referred to as the "Apple Capital of Georgia." Nestled in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains, Ellijay also provides campers with access to scenic campgrounds and nature walks. Campers in Ellijay can enjoy Carter's Lake, one of the deepest man-made lakes in the United States; the waterfall in Amicalola Falls State Park; the 855-foot-long rock wall in Fort Mountain State Park; and the 750,000-acre Chattahoochee National Forest in the Appalachian Mountain Range.

    • Diamond Lure RV Park has a designated area for tent camping. The campground includes lots of space for campers to set up their tents, and a fire pit for building fires. The campground also has its own 15-acre spring-fed lake that is stocked with channel catfish, brim and large mouth bass. Campers do not need a fishing license to fish in the campground's lake. Other amenities include a 3-acre lakeside park with a pavilion, stage, smokehouse cooker and grill. Also near the campground are Amicalola Falls, Fort Mountain, Carter's Lake and Blue Ridge Lake. Campers are advised to call ahead for reservations and rates.

    Mulberry Gap

    • Mulberry Gap's campground tent sites are spacious enough to accommodate multiple tents. Some of the tent sites also have picnic tables and fire rings with free wood. Campers can call in advance to order snacks, drinks and full meals that can be cooked at their tent site, for a fee. The campground has two hot tubs, two bathing facilities, and a mess hall with a wood-burning stove. Mulberry Gap provides numerous books and games for campers to enjoy during their stay. The campground also has two ponds with trout and koi, but no fishing is allowed. There are also bike- and dog-washing facilities as well. The campground is open year-round, and campers are encouraged to call for rates and reservations.

    Plum Nelly

    • Plum Nelly is a family-owned campground. All the tent sites have electricity and running water. The campground also has a hot tub, hot showers and a laundry facility. Plum Nelly is near local apple orchards, Amicalola Falls, Fort Mountain and the Appalachian Trail, where campers can go hiking and biking. The campground is also near several lakes, where campers can go kayaking, swimming and fishing. Campers are encouraged to call for rates and reservations.
