Plan trips to the five miles of beaches available to tourists. People watch from the beach, sunbathe, swim in the ocean and watch the dolphins swim in the surf off the coast of the island.
Charter a boat or join a scheduled boat tour, to watch the swimming dolphins up close. Dive off the boat and swim in the warm ocean water.
Visit the historical sites available on the island. Visit the Tybee Island Lighthouse, the oldest one in the state, dating back to 1773. Tour the lighthouse--one of the tallest in Georgia.
Take a tour of the fort built during the Spanish-American War--Fort Screven. Tour Fort Pulaski, a Civil War-era fort that was heavily involved in the war. Tour the Tybee Island museum to get an even greater picture of the island's history.
Schedule some time at the Tybee Marine Science Center to get a better idea of the marine life native to the area. Touch the marine animals and learn about the habits of the animals. Take one of the Center's scheduled beach walks to learn more about the southern Georgia marine ecology.
