Geneseo is set in the beautiful Finger Lakes region of New York state, an area south of Rochester known for its vineyards and wines as well as year-round recreation possibilities centered around the lakes. The city is also the home of the State University of New York at Geneseo, but just because it's a college town doesn't mean you can't find lots of good food nearby.
Located directly in Geneseo on Main Street, the Big Tree Inn (also a hotel and event center) excels at what it calls "polished casual." Selecting from a menu combining locally grown produce and choice meats along with wines and brews from the area, you can enjoy an elegant dining experience right in the center of town.

Also a hotel, The Inn on the Lake is open year-round, offering a dining room overlooking blue Canandaigua Lake in what the establishment calls an "elegantly casual" style. The menu features an award-winning wine list in addition to classic steaks, seafood, veal, pork and pasta specialties. The restaurant is about 34 miles from Geneseo.
