Money belts can hold valuable documents, such as a passport, and foreign currency when you are traveling. Pickpockets look for an easy way to steal, such as taking a purse from a lady's shoulder, but when you have your valuables hidden around your waist, you are no longer an easy target for pickpockets. Money belts are easy and comfortable to wear.
Put valuables in the money belt that you will be needing on a particular day. If you have a hotel room, lock your valuables that you do not need in the safe in the room, if available. You should put the following items in a money belt: plane tickets, rail passes, credit cards, driver's license and foreign currency. Put only a day's worth of currency in your money belt.
Carry your passport in the money belt only if you need it that day; you do not want to risk losing your passport.
Put the money belt around your waist with the pocket in front, and slide it underneath the waistline of your pants.
Pull the pocket of the money belt up just above the waistline of your pants when you need access to the documents or money inside. Do not take the money belt off in public. The point of the money belt is to be discreet, and to not let anyone know where you keep your money or other important documents.
