Imagine you are going on a 2 day trip to Vegas with some friends or co-workers. A schedule for the trip has already been set, and a few of the events are even going to be free, so it would be a shame to miss them. Now there is only one thing that could get in the way of you enjoying all of this fun free stuff,... the abundance of (possibly) free liquor in Las Vegas.
One of the key things is to make an outline of the events you are planning on hitting on a small piece of paper (or business card), which you can easily take with you to all the places. Just note the event, location, possibly phone number and time of the event. Also make sure you have all your friend's cell phone numbers. This little piece of paper will make all the difference, if you had a few drinks, and can't quite recall where something was located.
If the schedule of events happens to cover an incredibly long time span, it's key not to start drinking at full speed right away. These first few hours in Las Vegas can sometimes make all the difference. Remember, that yes, you are in Vegas... WOOOO... but even though that's an incredible thing, it'll really suck if you are totally smashed at 3PM or passed out in a casino chair by 6PM while the rest of you gang is just getting started. So make a point to drink lightly in the beginning to get a good buzz going, but not so much that you'll miss out on all the cool events later in the day. Also, in this first phase when you are fully in control, alternate alcohol with water.
Now if ended up not being able to follow step 2 and you are now totally smashed, make a choice. Which one of your upcoming events is most worth it to you? If there is something between your favorite event later in the day, that you could miss without shedding a tear, make the decision to break away from the group, and head to your hotel room to take a nap and drink some water. You'll be amazed what a difference that will make. Now you will be able to outlast all your friends and probably see some of the more fun things, since Vegas comes to life at night.
More tips to come... Hope these help =D
