Center for Puppetry Arts

• The Center for Puppetry Arts is the largest puppet organization in North America. The center was built in 1978 and has since hosted numerous workshops and performances. The puppetry center is a hands-on museum and has a number of themed sections. For instance, "Puppets: the Power of Wonder" discusses retrospectively how puppetry has helped mold the state of religion, people and politics throughout history.

  The next segment of the tour is a look at the special exhibits section that groups puppets according to theme and style. Once you are done with the tour, you and your teenagers may want to visit the museum store to purchase souvenirs for their friends back home. The Center of Puppetry Arts caters to kids and adults as well.

• The idea of speed often thrills teens. That is why so many adolescents dream of becoming race car drivers or at least are fascinated with the sport. Teenagers visiting Atlanta can see race car drivers and their famous rides at the Atlanta Motor Speedway. This speedway is the home of NASCAR, the world's second-most watched sport on television, shown in 150 countries. NASCAR holds two annual events at this Georgia speedway, each with an estimated attendance of 150,000 people.

Piedmont Park

• Once you and the kids are tired from your busy itinerary in Atlanta, you may want to head to a place to rest and unwind. Atlanta may not have strips of beaches, but it has the famous Piedmont Park, situated in midtown Atlanta, that features walking/jogging paths, picnic facilities, playgrounds, tennis courts, a public swimming pool, two ponds and a dog park. Teenagers can choose from the assortment of activities Piedmont Park has to offer.

  This park is also the favorite venue for tons of local events and festivals, like the Atlanta Dogwood Festival, Atlanta Jazz Festival the Atlanta Arts Festival, and Screen on the Green. The Atlanta Botanical Garden is within the vicinity of Piedmont Park as well.
