Wave down a taxi; sometimes it may take a while. When one stops say, "Gracias por parar," which means "Thank you for stopping."
Ask the cost per mile as a rough estimate of the final price. Use the phrase "Cuanto cobra por milla?"
Find out if the driver takes credit by asking, "Usted toma tarjeta de credito?" Then show your credit card to make sure your type is accepted.
Get in the taxi and tell the taxi driver your destination by using the words "Necesito llegar a ..." which means "I need to get to ...." Complete the end of the sentence with the name of the place you are going.
Arrive at your destination and ask how much you owe with the words "Cuanto le debo?" Pay the driver what you owe plus a tip and then thank the driver by saying, "Muchas gracias."
