Smartfix Interstate 40 Directions
The American Society of Civil Engineers' "Infrastructure Report Card" for Tennessee listed 17 percent of that state's roadways as "in poor or mediocre condition". Tennessee set up the "Smartfix" program to complete roadwork and repairs in short time frames without the need for long-term highway closures. The Tennessee Department of Transportation launched Smartfix with repairs to Interstate 40, a route that traverses the entire state and links Nashville, Knoxville and Memphis. The Tennessee DOT set up a website to provide updates and directions to direct traffic around the repairs.
