What is the landscape like in Blackpool?

Blackpool's topography can be split into three main areas based on physical geography. The coastal plain, dominated by the Irish Sea, is characterized by extensive sandy beaches, mudflats, and dunes, with the famous Golden Mile promenade stretching along the coast. The coastal plain gradually transitions into a low-lying interior zone known as the Fylde Plain. This area is notable for its fertile agricultural land, including market gardens and flower nurseries. The Fylde Plain meets the western slopes of the Bowland Fells, a range of hills and upland moorland rising inland.
