Things to Do in Soho London

Once a hunting ground for the area's wealthy residents, Soho is now home to boutiques, theaters and coffee shops. It is an excellent place to people watch, especially if you hope to see some of London's more famous residents. Any time of the day or night, Soho is alive, and there's always something to see and do.
  1. Theater

    • Soho's Leicester Square (pronounced Lester) is one of the home bases of London's famed theater. While many shows are booked far in advance, ticket booths in the Square sell deeply discounted last minute tickets to many well known shows. These are often last minute cancellations that are released to the public. You can also sometimes score tickets to the constantly sold out shows by picking up will calls that have not been picked up in the five minutes before show time. It's pot luck, but if you're willing to see what's available, you can always see a show for a reasonable cost.

    National Gallery

    • Home to some of the most luminary paintings of Western Europe, England's National Gallery is in the center of Soho, on Trafalgar Square. Free to the public, though donations are accepted, the Gallery is open 361 days a year. It offers a wide variety of art, as well as regular themed exhibitions. Exhibits will also tell you more about the life and works of particular artists, from old masters to post-modernists, as well as offer insight into how the National Gallery cares for and restores classic works of art.

    Night Life

    • All of London knows that Soho comes to life when the sun goes down. Famous for night clubs, jazz spots, and adult shopping, Soho lights up with buskers and performers as the well-dressed go from restaurant to night club. Drop in at Groucho's, named for the famous Marx brother, or the Top 100 club, one of the birthplaces of punk, where the Sex Pistols performed in 1976.
