Silly Things to Do in London

The capital of the United Kingdom has beautiful architecture, countless historical sites, world-class museums and a lively arts and theater culture. All of these things offer their own rewards, but sometimes the best reward comes from simply having a good time. When you tire of history and culture, here are some things you can do in London, just for the fun of it.
  1. Improve Your Circus Act

    • The Circus Space, located in what was once an abandoned power station, is the only circus training facility in the United Kingdom and one of the best in Europe. It is dedicated to teaching and promoting the circus arts to both aspiring professionals and ordinary folks who've always wanted to see what it was like to swing from a trapeze.

The Circus Space offers recreational classes in various circus acts such as the flying trapeze, stilt walking, juggling and tightrope walking. Not sure what you want to try? It also offers half- and full-day workshops that allow you to try your hand at a variety of circus skills. Check out its website for more information.

    Come to Cabaret

    • Located in London's former red-light Soho district, Madame JoJo's has been entertaining adults since the 1960s. The club features a truly decadent '50s cabaret atmosphere and features a rotating list of events, including the Kitsch Cabaret, a Las Vegas-style revue show with lots of feathers, glamour, glitz, live music and legs that takes place every Saturday. Monthly events include the London Burlesque Show, Magic Night and Tranny Shack.

    Scare Yourself Silly

    • Horror enthusiasts will enjoy a trip to the London Dungeon, a tourist attraction located near London Bride Station that employs live actors, rides and special effects to create an interactive experience designed to both frighten and entertain. While all of the attractions offer thrills, some also educate---you'll learn about the history of Jack the Ripper, London's most infamous murderer, as well as the Great Fire of London, which devastated much of the city in 1666.

    Pole-Dance the Night Away

    • Polepeople is one of the leading pole dancing and fitness schools in the UK. It offers six-week pole dancing classes for women in venues throughout London, including dance studios and private rooms in bars. It also offer six-week burlesque classes in which you learn different aspects of the art of burlesque, including sensual movement, chair work and poses. It's a friendly, comfortable environment where you can be sexy and get a workout (and likely a few laughs) at the same time. It also does one-night events for birthdays and bachelorette parties.
