The Sultan Omar Ali Saifuddin Mosque, built in 1958 by an Italian architect in Bandar Seri Begawan, features marble floors, minarets and walls. The Islamic mosque was named after the 28th sultan of Brunei and has a gold dome, artificial lagoon and a replica of a 16th century barge.
Located on the Brunei River, Kampong Ayer is a "water village" with buildings, such as mosques, restaurants, houses and shops, which are elevated above the river on stilts. The village is made up of a number of small towns that are connected by foot bridges and boardwalks.
Pulau Selirong is an island located near Brunei Bay where one can see forests of mangrove trees and animals such as the tree-gliding flying lemur. It is possible to walk through the forests on the boardwalks and platforms and get to the island by speedboats and water vessels.
Tasek Merimbun is the largest lake in Brunei, with an island and walkway in the middle. It is distinguished by its black waters. Merimbun Heritage Park is nearby, and it features a wildlife sanctuary. The lake and park are home to wild monkeys and rare species of birds such as purple heron and egrets.
Located on the eastern portion of Brunei, the Ulu Temburong National Park is a lowland rainforest that is only accessible by boat. Canopy walkways and suspension bridges allow people the chance to walk through this rainforest to see plants such as tiger orchards and animals such as the Wagler's pit viper snake.
