Get a guided tour through the Cane River National Heritage Area at 1 Rue Beau Port. It's a 116,000 acre area that includes the Cane River Creole National Historical Park, 7 National Historic Landmarks, 3 State Historic Sites, and historic plantations, homes and churches.
Enjoy the Alligator Park at 380 Old Bayou Pierre Road. This park features hundreds of alligators with opportunities to feed them, touch them and have your picture taken with them.
Have fun at Fort St. Jean Baptiste State Historic Site at 30 Moreau Street. Find it along the banks of the Cane River. This historic site features an exact replica of the French fort.
Find the Bayou Folk Museum in novelist Kate Chopin's old home in Cloutierville. It's filled with all manner of oddities of local interest, along with exhibits relating to Chopin herself.
See the 1717 Church of the Immaculate Conception at Second and Church streets. It has many of its original French features, including glass chandeliers and a hand-carved font.
Walk along Natchitoches's exquisite Front Street on the river. It bears a passing resemblance to New Orleans' French Quarter.
