Kids Activities in North Conway New Hampshire

North Conway, New Hampshire may be home to some of the best outlet shopping in the state, but it's also a great destination for families with young children looking for adventures. Many tourists and natives use this town as a starting point to get to the area's family attractions such as Clark's Trading Post, the Conway Railroad or Story Land. Most are just a 10- to 15-minute car ride but some take a little longer, depending on traffic and weather conditions. Once at your destination, be prepared to park and spend the day.
  1. Story Land

    • Visit Cinderella's castle without having to take a trip to Disney World, or take spin in Alice's tea cups. Story Land, located just 3 miles from North Conway, New Hampshire is a place where fantasies of the young come true. Take a ride in a pumpkin coach to Cinderella's Castle, spin through a giant cuckoo clock or take a tour of the farm on a child-sized tractor. In addition, there are lively shows, unique playgrounds and friendly storybook characters to meet. Story Land is not open year round, so it's best to check their website for dates and times.

    Conway Scenic Railroad

    • Hop aboard the "Valley Train" from either Conway or Bartlett, New Hampshire and take a ride on the Conway Scenic Railroad. The train will take passengers through the state's spectacular Crawford Notch and past some of the highest mountains in the Northeast. In the winter the train offers passage to the North Pole on its very own Polar Express. It's only a 30-minute train ride from North Conway to the North Pole and all guests enjoy hot chocolate and treats on the ride there.

    Santa's Village

    • It's Christmas every day at Santa's Village, where kids can enjoy riding in the bumper cars, the skyway sleigh or the Christmas carousel. In addition, for 2010 Santa's Ho-Ho-Ho village is opening an H2O water park. "Water, water everywhere--even at Santa's Village. There will be lots of water slides, climbs and interactive play areas for the entire family," notes the theme park's website. Check the website for opening day and hours of operation as the park is not open all year round.
