Building an itinerary will ensure that you are able to experience everything the parks have to offer. Visit the Universal Studios' official website and read up on rides, look at maps and view streaming videos. Look for restaurants on the map legend and make note of where they're located. Plan your lunch breaks for off-peak hours in order to avoid long lunch times. Also look at maps of the surrounding areas for nearby restaurants that offer cheaper or more extensive meal options.
Purchase your tickets before you head over to Universal Studios to avoid waiting in long ticket lines. It is best to pre-purchase tickets on the Universal Studios' main website; although reputable websites offer discounted tickets as do various off-site ticket resellers located throughout the Orlando and Hollywood areas.
Early arrival guarantees that you will be able to ride to squeeze in a few rides and attractions before the park gets too crowded. Rides located near the front of the park generally attract the most visitors, so head to the back of the park to get in a few rides before the crowds spread out. Be sure to arrive at the park within 10 to 15 minutes after it opens to avoid the early morning rush.
Beat the heat by visiting indoor attractions during the hottest periods of the day. Recharge your batteries in a show or enjoy thrills in an indoor simulator ride. Indoor attractions provide a nice respite from the strong Los Angeles and Orlando sun and Orlando's high humidity.
During the fall, winter and early spring, Universal Studio's theme parks tend to be less crowded than during the summer months. This is true of both the Orlando and Hollywood theme parks. Crowds tend to be heavier on the weekends; therefore visiting during the week may be a better option. The holidays tend to attract more visitors. Be sure to avoid the Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years and Easter holiday periods.
