About Universal Studios Hollywood

Universal Studios Hollywood is a working studio, theme park and entertainment complex rolled into one. Guests will spend the day touring the world's largest working studio, riding rides based on some of the studio's most exciting thrillers, and seeing exhibits and attractions that will provide an insider's view as to how the magic in Hollywood comes to life. To really experience what Universal Studios Hollywood has to offer, travelers should plan on spending a full day or two at the park. For those who have less than a day to spend at the park, there are front-of-the-line passes available.
  1. Rides and attractions

    • Universal Studios Hollywood has more than a dozen rides, shows and exhibits that put the traveler in the middle of the film-making experience. These include the Studio Tour, Revenge of the Mummy-The Ride, Shrek 4-D, Jurassic Park--The Ride, Waterworld, Terminator 2: 3D, The Blues Brothers, The Simpsons Ride, The Universal Experience, The Adventures of Curious George, House of Horrors, Special Effects Stages, Universal's Animal Actors and BackDraft.

    Working Studio

    • Universal Studios Hollywood is more than a theme park; it is a working studio where famous TV shows and movies are filmed. According to Universal's website, universalstudioshollywood.com, TV shows filmed at the studio include The Office, Desperate Housewives, The Unit, 24, Ghost Whisperer and The Biggest Loser. Some of the blockbusters filmed at the studio include Bruce Almighty, Meet the Fockers, Spider-Man 2, Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl, Back to the Future, Psycho, When Harry Met Sally and Jurassic Park.

    Universal CityWalk

    • More than just a single attraction, Universal CityWalk is a place where you can experience the best of Hollywood---19 cinemas with ultra-plush rocker seats, more than 20 restaurants, concerts and a variety of night clubs. Guests can also experience human flight at iFLY's indoor skydiving simulator. Universal CityWalk is included in the admission price to Universal Studios Hollywood, though some venues may charge a fee for admission or activities.

    Shopping and dining

    • From Ben and Jerry's to the Jurassic Café, there are dozens of dining choices inside of the park. In addition to national chains like Panda and Pizza Hut, there are Universal favorites such as Mel's Diner, Doc Brown's Chicken, Cyber Grill and Hollywood Grill. An All-You-Can-Eat pass is available for purchase. Universal CityWalk has an additional 25 restaurants. Shoppers will enjoy souvenir, toy and clothing shops and won't want to miss any of the collectibles stores. The Kwik-E-Mart, for example, is full of Simpsons merchandise.

    VIP Priveleges

    • For an extra fee, guests at Universal Studios Hollywood can get the VIP Experience. VIPs will have access to closed-sets, soundstages and the prop warehouse. They will also have access to the VIP Lounge, priority front-of-the-line boarding to all shows and attractions, a gourmet lunch and valet parking. VIP privileges are limited and must be reserved in advance.
