Make arrangements to stay on property. All Disney World hotels have disabled rooms built to accommodate guests with special needs. Rooms for disabled guests include wheelchair accessible showers, tubs with rails and extra wide doors. Disney also offers TTY phones, strobe smoke detectors and small refrigerators for medication storage.
Let the Disney representative who makes your travel reservations know that you have a disability. You can ask her for specific information regarding your needs. Contact Disney's customer service line for disabled guests at 407-939-7670. For customer service in TTY, dial 407-939-7670. You can also request a free guidebook for disabled guests.
Use Disney World buses to travel around the resort. If you don't have a vehicle with you and are staying in the park, you can use the free Disney transportation. Most buses have wheelchair ramps.
Head to City Hall in the Magic Kingdom for a pamphlet detailing services available in each park. You will also receive a special pass that will alert cast members to your needs so they can assist you appropriately. Passes are valid in every park for the duration of your stay. If you are visually or hearing disabled, visit the information building at each Disney World park for Braille and audio guides.
Show your pass to a cast member before entering a ride's line. Usually, a cast member will escort you and your party to the front of the line, although this accommodation does depend on the nature of your disability. Refer to your guide for more information about accommodations you can receive in the theme parks.
Enjoy riding almost every ride Disney World has to offer. Some thrill rides cannot accommodate disabled guests; you can find a list of these in your park pamphlet. Some rides accommodate wheelchairs and others require you to move from the wheelchair to ride seating. Cast members cannot help such transfers, so a member of your party must assist you.
Inform a cast member of your disability to receive special seating for all shows, including fireworks. Preferred seating is available to disabled guests and their parties.
