Rapids Water Park offers the standard water slides, wave pool and a lazy river among its 17 different attractions, but the biggest draw has to be Big Thunder. As the largest water ride in the state of Florida, it zooms four riders in a raft over 20 miles per hour before launching them into the Big Thunder Funnel. For less adventurous adults and their toddlers, the Tadpool offers a wading pool with floating swamp animals to play on. Less than an hour south of Fort Pierce, The Rapids conveniently sits just off I-95.
Slightly further down I-95 lies Coconut Grove Water Park which also offers banquet facilities and plenty of event space for your next family reunion. The park only has two main water slides, but has other aquatic attractions like a lazy river, interactive water playground and a full service concession stand. If you need some quiet time to soak up some sun, you can even get the kids out of your hair by signing them up for supervised martial arts classes.
Located in Royal Palm Beach, just 10 miles west of West Palm Beach, Calypso Bay offers a 897-foot long lazy river and water slides that tower four stories high. Unlike many water parks, Calypso Bay also offers a children's water playground, a lap pool with diving boards, locker rentals, showers and a concession stand. Smaller kids will love the Lily Pad Walk where they try to stay relatively dry as they jump from pad to pad. Best of all, adult ticket prices start at just $10, as of December, 2010.
