The Nashville Zoo opened its doors 1985 and is home to a 66,000 -square-foot jungle gym that can accommodate as many as 1,000 kids. The jungle gym is the largest community-built playground in the United States. Daily activities include animal shows, keeper talks and highlighted habitats. Children can also ride the wild animal carousel, which features a giant anteater, giraffe and a cheetah. Guests can take a walk through the Grassmere Historic Home while visiting the zoo. Some of the animals at the zoo include amphibians, elephants, hogs, fish, birds, alligators, turtles and snakes. The Nashville Zoo offers birthday parties for children that include a live animal presentation, indoor party and 20-minute safari tour. The zoo is open every day except Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's Day, as of 2010.
Grand Old Golf is located near the Opryland Resort and Convention Center. It has two 18-hole miniature golf courses that are par two or three. The miniature golf course also has a 9-hole course that is par five. The park has single and double go-karts, and a concession stand that serves a variety of snack foods including popcorn, ice cream, candy and sodas. Children's birthday parties include a round of golf, ice cream, soda, popcorn, go-kart rides and party room rental for 90 minutes. The arcade offers games with ticket redemption for prizes. Discount rates for golf and go-karts are available for groups of 15 or more.
The Centennial Sportsplex Ice Skating Rink offers two indoor rinks for public skating, ice skating lessons, private lessons and birthday parties. Hockey classes, men's and women's hockey leagues, open hockey sessions and youth hockey is available at this arena. Birthday party options include a party area, pizza, sodas, hot dogs, popcorn, candy bowls, private instructions for your group and ice skating admission for each party guest. Additional food and drinks are available at the concession stand in the ice rink. Discount rates are available for groups of 20 or more.
