Minnesota bars in small towns and in the Twin Cities area offer residents and visitors the opportunity to live out their "urban cowboy" dreams. Mechanical bull rides, popularized by a 1980 movie starring John Travolta, can be found in country-western bars around the state. Some bars even allow children to ride the mechanical bull.

    • Country music star Toby Keith opened a location in his chain of "I Love This Bar & Grill" establishments in the summer of 2010 in suburban Minneapolis. The country music bar has a mechanical bull called "Toby" for patrons to ride. Customers can order drinks from an 85-foot bar shaped like a guitar. They can also order Southwest-themed cuisine from late morning into late evening. Live music and dancing are among the other activities at the bar. The bar is open seven days a week.

The bar has a full menu serving hamburgers, pizza wings and bar food. Happy hour is every day from 4 to 7 p.m. The bar has daily drink specials and theme nights.     • Rollie's Rednecks and Longnecks is a country music bar and restaurant in the small town of Sauk Rapids north of the city of St. Cloud. The bar features a mechanical bull riding ring for patrons. On Thursdays women can ride the bull for free. Weekly events include Tuesday all-you-can-eat Polish sausage and sauerkraut and a local radio station DJ on Wednesday nights. Live music is on the stage several days a week. Sunday is family day and kids ride the bull for free until 3 p.m.
