The best-known ice skating rink in the Boston area would have to be the Frog Pond at Boston Commons. The city's parks department operates the rink, situated in the oldest public park in the country. Because it is outdoors, the Frog Pond is only open during the cold months, specifically November through March. During this time, skaters can enjoy themselves from 10 a.m. to at least 9 p.m. every day of the week except Monday, when the rink closes at 4 p.m. Children under 13 can skate for free, while a single-day pass for adults is $4. The Frog Pond rents skates and also offers ice skating lessons for various skill levels.
