Things to Do on a Rainy Day in Seattle

Seattle, Washington is home to many tourist attractions, including the Myrtle Edwards Park, the Seattle Waterfall Garden, Klondike Gold Rush National Historical Park and Pike Place Market. The city has a variety of restaurants, hotels, shops and tours for tourists. With the many attractions to choose from, there are even things to do on a rainy day in Seattle.
  1. The Museum of Flight

    • The Museum of Flight is a 12-acre museum that is home more than 85 historic air and spacecraft, flight simulators, interactive exhibits and educational activities. The Great Galley is an exhibit of 30 aircraft suspended overhead in a glass building. The museum also has a car that flies, a supersonic Concorde, the first jet "Air Force One" and a Mach 3 Blackbird spy plane. The flight stimulator seats 13 passengers and takes them on a WWII mission. There is a cafe for sandwiches and beverages on-site and plenty of free parking.

    Seattle Aquarium

    • The Seattle Aquarium has a variety of sea fish and sea creatures, and offers day camps for children age seven to 15 and adult/child programs for children under the age of seven. Some exhibits include the Window on Washington Waters, Life on the Edge, Ocean Oddities, Marine Mammals, Underwater Dome, Pacific Coral Reef and Life of a Drifter. The Window on Washington is a 120,000 gallon tank that divers get into three times a day and talk to guests outside of the tank. The Underwater Dome is a 400,000 gallon tank in the shape of a dome, in which guests stand to have a 360-degree view of the fish. The aquarium also has a café and a gift shop.

    The Children's Museum Seattle

    • The Children's Museum in Seattle has many indoor activities for families. The 22,000 square foot museum is designed for children two through 10 and their families. The 11 exhibits include the Imagination Studio, Global Village, Mountain Forest, Discovery Bay, Story Tell Circle and a variety of other exhibits. The Imagination Studio has a kid-sized art studio where they can paint, play with clay and make sculptures, and a monthly themed station. The Neighborhood exhibit has a construction zone, grocery store and theater for hands-on fun for little ones. The museum offers birthday parties and after-hours parties as well.
