Fishing charters with Aqua Safaris are an available coastal activity in the greater Houston/Galveston area. Aqua Safaris departs from Galveston Harbor and plies the Texas Gulf Coast waters in search of red snapper, tuna, lingcod, kingfish and shark. All fishing gear, including tackle and bait, boat services, captain and guide and assistance with fish cleaning, is provided with charter fees. Aqua Safaris asks guests to provide their own sun gear, food and drinks.

The Space Center Houston, outside of the city offers daily tours and informative talks on the U.S. space missions and its history. Here visitors can find out where the saying "Houston, we have a problem" originated. Tours and highlights include the anti-gravity "feel of space" display and the Starship Gallery. There are activities for kids and live interactive shows. Ticket prices for adults, kids and seniors are available.

Galveston State Park offers many outdoor activities, both water and land based. There are four miles of hiking and mountain biking trails, interpretive nature hikes, picnic areas, boat ramp and fish cleaning stations. There are scuba diving, snorkeling, surfing and swimming possibilities at the park. The region has many species of migratory and native birds, making it a good spot for bird-watching.
