Among the events held at Wildwood are concerts or live music performances. Some of the performances are held at Centennial Park, while others are held at Crest Pier or Fox Park. At either location, the entertainment is free and begins at 7:30 p.m. The area encourages an entire family to come and enjoy the events, and to bring blankets or beach chairs to relax in. Other concerts play at the Lou Boothe Ampitheatre and begin at 8 p.m.
Wildwood hosts numerous conferences and conventions. Among these are the American Legion Convention, the New Jersey State Elks Convention, the North Wildwood Beach Writers Conference, the International Supreme Council of DeMolay New Jersey State Convention and the Veterans of Foreign Wars and Ladies Auxiliary Convention. Most of the conventions gather at the Wildwoods Convention Center and some are free of charge to enter.
Wildwood also hosts festivals during the summer. One of the festivalsplace is the Fourth of July Weekend Freedom Festival. This festival features craft and food vendors, live entertainment, children's activities and free concerts. Other festivals include the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall Celebration of Heroes Festival, the Wildwoods International Kite Festival, the Angelsea Blues Festival, the North Wildwood Original Italian-American Festival, the Maritime Festival at Hereford Inlet Lighthouse, the Mid-Summer Festival and Craft Show and the New Jersey State Crab Festival. Sports events and tournaments are also main features of summer events at Wildwood. At the end of May, Wildwoods hosts the state gymnastics championships. Other events include the Spring Thunder in the Sand Pro/Am Motocross Races, the Dance Xplosion National Finals Dance Competitions, boogie board races, Annual Duke of Fluke Fishing Tournament, Morey's Piers Beach Lacrosse Tournament, the King of the Court Soccer Tennis Tournament and the Annual Co-Ed Beach Ultimate Frisbee Tournament. Many other tournaments and sporting events take place at Wildwoods, some of which are for spectators, like a visit from the Harlem Globetrotters basketball team.
