June Events in Wildwood, New Jersey

Located 30 miles south of Atlantic City, Wildwood is a five-mile-long island that by the 1950s was a premiere resort town along the Jersey shore. Area highlights include the World-Famous Boardwalk, which was built at the turn of the century and features shopping, eateries and the Wildwood piers, each full of amusement park rides and water slides. June is a busy month in Wildwood and includes events such as the Cape May Blast Beach Soccer weekend.

  1. Mummers Brigade Weekend

    • During Mummers Brigade Weekend, an annual early-June event, the Philadelphia Mummers take over the streets of North Wildwood. The top seven Mummers brigades from the Philadelphia New Year's Day Parade are featured in this two-day festival and compete with each other for the best "strut." A pub crawl and parade round out this event, which is free to the public.

    Cape Express Beach Blast Soccer

    • The Cape Express Beach Blast Soccer weekend is an annual last-weekend-in-June event when amateur and inter-mural soccer teams get to compete barefooted in games on Wildwood beaches. The games take place between Cedar and Poplar avenues, minutes away from the Wildwood Boardwalk and amusement piers. Team registration occurs at the Wildwoods Convention Center on Friday and games are played on Saturday and Sunday. There is an entrance fee for participants, but this event is free to spectators. Games begin at 8 a.m. and go to 6 p.m.

    Wildwood Restaurant Week

    • Wildwood Restaurant Week occurs a couple of times throughout the summer, including a week in June. Much like restaurant weeks in major cities, participating Wildwood establishments offer a complete four-course meal featuring an appetizer, salad, entree and dessert for an inexpensive price plus tax and gratuity. 2010 participating restaurants included Alfe's Restaurant, Dog Tooth Bar and Grille, Crab Island, Luna Ristorante & Club and Urie's Waterfront Restaurant.

Doo Wop Back to the 50s Tours

    • This guided trolley tour, which leaves from the Doo Wop Experience Museum on Ocean Avenue, begins in June and goes all summer long. Learn all about Wildwood's collection of mid-20th-century architecture motels, which is referred to as the Doo Wop Motel District but is officially recognized as the Wildwoods Shore Resort Historic District by the state of New Jersey. The motels are the largest collection of their kind in the United States. Each motel has its own fantasy theme and unique sign.
