How To Obtain a Copy of a Granada Police Report

Whenever a crime or accident is reported to the police, obtaining the police report for personal files is common. Depending on the size of the city or department, you go to either the city police department or a records department to get your copy. While Granada Hills police are part of the Los Angeles Police Department, the Devonshire Community Police Station serves Granada Hills and surrounding cities.

Instructions

    • 1

Write a letter requesting a report. The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) requires the name and address of the victim on the police report, an insurance number, type of report (such as traffic accident or assault), date and location where the incident took place and an incident report number, if you have it.

    • 2

Include a check or money order for $23, payable to the LAPD, to cover a records search. The fee is non-refundable.

    • 3

Mail the written request to the Records and Identification Division of the Los Angeles Police Department. The address is:

      Attention: Watch Commander

      P.O. Box 30158

      Los Angeles, CA 90030

    • 4

Wait for a response. Because the LAPD serves a heavily populated area, it may take a week or more to receive your report.
