Obtain the necessary documentation. For this visa, you must have a passport valid for 6 months beyond entry into the United States. You will also need a receipt for the processing fee, obtainable at any Israeli Post Office. Additional documentation proving economic and family ties in Israel, as well as any previous passports with U.S. visas will also be pertinent to the application process. There may be more documentation necessary if traveling as a student, for business, for medical reasons or those with a technical or scientific background.
Apply several months before you intend to travel, as the summer months and around holidays the U.S. Embassy is busy with applications. Wait approximately 2 workdays for processing of the visa after you have been approved, following the interview. Allow another day for the courier service to deliver your passport and visa to you. Some applicants may need additional processing, in which 30-45 days should be allotted. If this is the case you will not have your passport during this time.
