How to Obtain Visa to Leave Country
Many countries will allow you to visit from the United States with just a passport. The ones that don't, however, usually require that you obtain a temporary visa before arriving. This visa will grant you admission into the country for a predetermined amount of time. To obtain a visa to leave the United States and visit another country, you will need to follow a few steps.

Open your Web browser and visit the State Department website.

Click on the country to which you would like to travel.

Select the link titled "Entry/Exit Requirements."

Follow the instructions detailed there to obtain your temporary visa. For example, if you wish to travel to Brazil, you are instructed to obtain a Brazilian visa at the nearest Brazilian Embassy or consulate before taking your trip.
