Make sure that you have a valid United States passport. Because your visa will be stamped directly into your passport, your passport must be valid up to and including the dates of your trip to Brazil.
Make your travel arrangements to Brazil. If you plan to fly to a destination in Brazil, book your plane tickets.
Get a head shot taken of you against a white background. Have the photograph printed so that it is 2 inches by 2 inches or passport-sized. Make a photocopy of the following: your driver's license, your travel documents and any document that indicates proof of your residence in Utah, such as a bill in your name.
Contact a visa agency. You can conduct an Internet search to find an agency that will help you obtain a visa to Brazil. Make sure that the agency assists travelers with obtaining visas to Brazil, specifically.
Print out and complete a visa request application. You can obtain an application by navigating to the Consulate General of Brazil in Los Angeles Tourist Visa webpage. Follow the link to the visa application/protocol form. You will be taken to a new page where you should click "Visa Request." Provide the following information on your application: the purpose of your trip, your full name, birth date, marital status, place of birth and the full names of both of your parents. You will also need to provide information about your employment, including your employer's name and address. Lastly, you will need to list your permanent address and the address where you can be contacted when you are in Brazil. Sign the application.
Submit your signed and completed visa application to the visa agency that you selected. With your application, include your passport and the photocopies that you made of your driver's license, travel documents and bill. You must submit your passport with the application so that the visa can be stamped in it. Your passport will be mailed back to you.
Pay any associated fees. You will have to pay a fee to the consulate for processing your visa application. The visa agency will transmit your payment to the consulate. You will also have to pay a fee to your visa agency. Ask your visa agency about its fees and how it would like to be paid. The total amount that you owe to the visa agency will be based on the fees that it charges for its services, the consulate fees and the type of visa for which you are applying.
