Then follow the onscreen prompts to enter the required personal and travel information. Print the form and sign it.
Consult the website of the embassy or your regional consulate for applicable fees. U.S. citizens do not pay a fee for tourist visas, but the embassy does charge fees for all temporary visas. Handling and reciprocity fees apply to both tourist and temporary visa applications.
Get one United States Postal Service money order for your visa, handling and reciprocity fees. This is the only form of payment the embassy and most consulates accept.
If you have traveled to any countries on the Brazilian embassy's restricted list during the 90-day period that precedes your visa application, attach your Yellow Fever International Vaccination Card to your passport.
Submit your application receipt and required documents for a tourist or temporary visa in person at the Brazilian embassy in Washington, D.C., or at the consulate that serves your state.
Use United States Postal Service Express Mail to submit your visa application to the embassy only if you are a resident of the District of Columbia, or the states of Virginia, Ohio, Kentucky, Maryland or West Virginia.
If you live in any other state, send your visa-application materials to one of Brazil's consular offices in other regions of the United States. The Brazilian embassy will not process applications that are mailed from residents of other states. The consulates only accept mail applications from residents of their jurisdictions.
Allow 4 business days for tourist visas or temporary visas if you drop the application off in person or use a visa service. Expect a processing time of over 2 weeks if you mail your application to the Brazilian embassy or a consulate.
