How to Obtain a Libyan Visa

Roman and Greek ancient history mingles with Muslim Heritage in the African country of Libya. Located in Northern Africa, 90% of Libya is a part of the Sahara Desert.       Book a tour through a Libyan tour company. You cannot get a visa without a reservation with a tour operator. There are many tour operators and tours to choose from. You can book a tour with a company that specializes in exploring the Roman and Greek ruins, the Sahara Desert or choose a company that will allow you to form your own itinerary. For example, Libya Expeditions offers a Romans and Berbers week long tour showcasing the country historic sites.

      Submit the visa application and passport copy to the tour company. You can download the application online from the Libyan Embassy website. However many of the tour companies will provide you with a visa application form as well. Some have online visa applications. You will also need to email the tour company scanned pages of all the date pages in your passport. The tour agency will take care of the rest of the visa processing which takes between seven and 14 business days. You will receive your visa upon arrival at the airport in Libya.

      Get your passport bio page translated to Arabic. You must have an Arabic translation of the biographical information on your passport attached upon arrival. You must go to a licensed and government approved translation service. Call the chamber of commerce in your town to find a reputable service.

      Bring your sisa letter with you to the airport. Once your visa application has been approved, the tour company will send you the visa letter which has your Visa Authorization Number. You must present it with your passport to the ticketing agent. When you arrive in Libya, you will be greeted by the tour company who will give you your visa and guide you through customs.
