Apply for your visa online at www.ukvisas.gov.uk. A general visa application fee is $112.00 and $12.00 for the required courier fee. All fees must be paid using a Mastercard or Visa.
Choose an appointment time to visit a nearby application center to have your biometric information collected. Biometric information includes a digital fingerprint scan and digital photo. A list of application centers is located at the website for U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services. Simply enter your zip code and the site will provide you with the nearest office.
Print a copy of the application, proof of payment and the biometric appointment confirmation number. Bring these documents to the appointment along with your passport.
Complete the final application by mailing all of the documentation provided to you during your biometric appointment to the UK Border Agency. This must be done within 2 weeks after the appointment and sent via certified mail.
Wait for the decision to be emailed to you. The agency will then return all documents, including your passport via overnight delivery. Most applications are reviewed within 30 days of receipt.
