How to Register at the US Embassy in Manila

U.S. citizens traveling or living in the Philippines should register at the U.S. Embassy in Manila or use the Department of State's online Travel Registration service. Registering online is not proof of U.S. citizenship, merely a way for the U.S. Embassy to contact you, or your relatives or friends, in case of emergency. Registration is also a way for the Embassy to get country-specific information to you.

Instructions

    • 1

Register online on the U.S. Department of State's Travel Registration website. To do this, you must create an account. This account has a personalized user name and password, which you can select yourself for easy recall.

    • 2

Fill in your personal information and email address. You will also be asked to fill in the name and contact details of an emergency contact who is not traveling with you. This person will be contacted in case something happens to you during your travels.

    • 3

Use the "Add Trip" button to fill in details of the Manila U.S. Embassy. Enter as many details as possible in order to make it easier to find you in case of civil unrest, wars, natural disasters or emergencies back home.

    • 4

If you know the address and phone number of the permanent residence where you will be staying in the Philippines, click on the "Add Overseas Residence" button. You can add this at a later time if necessary and these details will speed up any attempt to find you by the Embassy.

    • 5

If traveling outside of the Philippines, the website can also be used to add other trips. This will allow the Embassy to find you even if you are not in the Philippines at the time. Trips can also be deleted if your plans change. (See Reference 1 for the first five steps)

    • 6

Read the Philippines-specific information that the website sends you. This will allow you to alter your plans if necessary and reduce risk to yourself.

    • 7

U.S. citizens can also register in person at the U.S. Embassy in Manila during office hours. The Embassy will then send you email updates and the Embassy's quarterly newsletter with information useful to U.S. citizens in the Philippines. Registering puts you on the Warden email list. (See Reference 2) The Embassy is located at 1201 Roxas Boulevard in Manila. The phone number is 632-301-2000. (See Reference 3)
