How to Register a Trip with the US Embassy

An adventure abroad can sometimes take an unexpected turn. Registering your trip with the United States Embassy or Consulate at your destination helps the government locate and assist you in the event of a disaster, threat or emergency. U.S. consular officers work with American citizens on legal, medical and financial issues abroad. They recommend lawyers and doctors, extend loans, and provide travelers with information in dangerous circumstances. You can register your trip for free.
