Pack an extra bag of clothes. Whether the trip is short or long, the symptoms of motion sickness can hit at any moment. Having an extra pair of clothes will make things less stressfull if accidents happen.
Include a plastic bag in the vehicle near the person who gets motion sickness. This bag will be handy if the nausea associated with motion sickness wins out.
Add travel games and books to the vehicle. Reading books, coloring books with crayons and playing travel-sized games can add a needed distraction for someone who experiences motion sickness.
Dab lavender essential oil on the chest and neck area. Lavender essential oil combats motion sickness by being a relaxant, stress reliever and also a sedative (see Resources below).
Use medication such as Dramamine. It acts in the same manner as lavender essential oil--it relaxes you almost to the point of sleep, so that you don't notice the motion sickness. Dramamine can have side effects, so it is best to talk to your doctor before taking this medication (see Resources below).
