How to Keep Your Feet Dry in the Snow With Plastic Bags

Boots or shoes don't always have time to dry when you're trekking in the snow. This makes your socks, and thus your feet, wet. Plastic bags provide a simple, inexpensive way to keep your feet dry and warm. Put them on before you start out on your walk and before putting your foot in the boot to protect your skin from the snow.

Things You'll Need

  • Two pairs of socks
  • Plastic bags large enough to cover your feet and ankles

Instructions

    • 1

Dry your feet completely, if they are wet. Put on a pair of dry socks that reach past your ankles to keep them from falling into the shoe.

    • 2

Place your big toe into the corner of a plastic grocery bag. Pull the bag firmly over the rest of your toes, the bottom of your foot and heel.

    • 3

Pull an ankle sock over the bag. The ankle sock holds the bag in place without worry that it will slide down the leg.

    • 4

Trim the bag back so that it doesn't hang out over your shoe. The exact length to which you trim it depends upon your preferences. Leave more plastic back then you intend to use, then trim until comfortable.
