The southern end of the Strip begins at the Mandalay Bay Hotel and covers the cross streets of Tropicana and Harmon Avenues. Hotels on this section of the Strip include Mandalay Bay, Luxor, Excalibur, MGM Grand and New York, New York. Pedestrian walkways above the Strip allow walkers to avoid traffic while traveling to other resorts.
The center Strip is the most densely populated section of Las Vegas Boulevard and covers an area between Harmon Avenue and Sands Avenue. Hotels in this section include the Bellagio, Harrah's, Caesar's Palace, The Mirage and The Venetian. Also located in this area are three shopping malls--Caesar's Forum Shops, Planet Hollywood's Miracle Mile Shops and The Venetian's Grand Canal Shops.
The north end of the Strip, which is the longest, runs between Sands Avenue and Sahara Avenue. The least populous section of the Strip includes hotels such as Wynn Las Vegas, The Riviera, Circus Circus and The Sahara. The Strip ends at the Stratosphere, where it then leads into downtown Las Vegas.
As with any long-distance walk, journeying the length of the Las Vegas Strip takes some preparation. Make sure that comfortable shoes are worn prior to the journey, make frequent stops and drink plenty of water. This is particularly true during the hottest months of the summer.
