How to Prevent Stains on Softside Luggage

Although the most practical way to prevent stains on your softsided luggage is to carry your suitcase with you on the plane, it is nearly impossible to do that, especially if your luggage won't fit inside the overhead bins. There are some preventative measures you can take though, to insure that those stains won't last the life of the suitcase.

  Choose luggage made from fabrics that do not stain easily. Vinyl soft-sided luggage is easy to wipe off with glass cleaner, laundry detergent or water. Choosing the right fabric could save you a lot of time cleaning your luggage after a flight.

  Follow the TSA rules in your checked luggage, as well as with your carry-ons. Lock all liquids and gels inside plastic ziplock bags to avoid spills while traveling. Spills from your own liquids can be one of the biggest culprits, when it comes to stains on your luggage.

  Spray an upholstery protector on the outside of your luggage prior to traveling. Even if your bag is then soiled with grease or debris, it will be much easier to remove, if a fabric protector is applied.
