Airplane Travel Games

Air travel is the preferred method of transportation by many families wishing to maximize their vacation time. However, traveling with kids can sometimes be a pain. Airlines have restrictions on the amount of carry on luggage you can bring on board as well as certain rules that regulate the use of certain electronic devices on board, such as DVD players and video game devices. But, there are many other games that can be played on board that do not involve the use of electronics.
  1. Tray Top Games

    • Tray top games are easy to play with several kids that are sitting by each other on the plane. You can use the tray table to play card games, such as Go Fish, Crazy 8s or Old Maid. Tray tables can also be used to play games that involve paper and pen or pencil, such as hang man or tic-tack-toe.

    Scavenger Hunt in the Air

    • Another game to play in the air involves searching for ordinary or unusual item on the airplane that can be spotted from your kids' seats. A scavenger hunt on an airplane involves having kids use their observation skills and compete against each other to find all the items on the list. The scavenger hunt list can include items, such as a red neck tie, a mountain range, someone who is speaking another language, a baby, someone with a military uniform, a book, a flight attendant with bangs, someone with two different hair colors, an old lady, someone sleeping, a bridge, another airplane,
peanuts, a lake or ocean, or a cell phone, among other things.

    Air Sick Bag Puppets

    • One game that is easy to play on an airplane and involves colored pencils or markers involves making puppets out of the air sick bags that are in the seat back pocket. Simply pull out the bag and have the kids turn the bags into puppets. You could bring glue sticks and other decorative items, such as as yellow yarn, buttons or cloth on the puppets if you want to get really creative.
