Air Travel Games

Flights can get rather boring after a while. Long trips that take several hours can make both adults and children restless. Playing games while traveling through the air is an entertaining way to occupy your time. Some games may even provide mental stimulation or provide bonding time with your travel companions.
  1. Activity Book

    • An activity book is an entertaining diversion during flights for people of all ages. The book will contain several activities to complete from the same game. For example, A crossword activity book will feature hundreds of unique crossword puzzles to complete. In addition to crosswords, typical activity books may consist of Sudoku puzzles, word search puzzles, coloring pages or mazes.

    Handheld Video Games

    • Handheld video games are played on portable consoles such as Nintendo DS, Gameboy, Game Gear and the Sony PSP. Because most games require multiple hours of continuous playing to complete, children will remain occupied on longer flights by playing with a handheld console. A variety of genres are represented by video games, including sports, action/adventure, racing, role-playing and simulation. If bringing a portable video game console on a flight, ensure that the battery is fully charged. These games can be played with a headphone accessory or by muting the sound by using the console's volume slider so as not to disturb nearby passengers.

    Travel-Sized Board Games

    • Travel-sized board games are handheld versions of board games that contain very few detached pieces. Miniature board game classics such as checkers, chess, backgammon and parcheesi have travel-sized versions with a smaller, magnetic board and magnetized pieces. Most travel-sized board games are available at major department stores and within airport stores.

    Social Games

    • Social games on an airplane are any games that can be played with the person sitting next to you. These activities require no materials, and are games that have existed for generations. Two people can play cooperative clapping games such as Pat-a-Cake, Mary Mack or Down Down Baby. I Spy is another game that can be played, where you have to find a specific set of items, individuals or places inside the plane. Two competitive people can even duke it out in an exciting game of thumb wrestling. Be sure to keep your voices down so as not to disturb nearby passengers.
