How to Use Airtran Credits for Upgrades

AirTran's A+ program rewards its frequent customers with credit to be used for upgrades, discounts and other rewards. These credits can be used for a number of affiliated items, including rental car discounts, business class upgrades, free flights on any airline, and more. All it takes is a consistency with AirTran--a relationship that takes time to build. Redeeming your credits is fast, easy and takes only a few simple steps.

  Earn your A+ Rewards credit. Rent from Hertz, fly AirTran, use your A+ Visa card, shop at SkyMall and ask your cell phone provider to receive AirTran credit. It takes time, but you'll benefit in the end. It's worth it if you have to travel for business a lot.

  Book your flight at AirTran.com. During the payment process, an option to redeem your A+ credit will be given to you with ways you can redeem it. Receive your discount and/or upgrades and complete the purchase. A business class upgrade costs 4 credits and a one-way coach ticket costs 8 credits.   Call AirTran once your flight is booked to ask for any additional upgrades. Asking is never a bad thing. Explain politely that you are an A+ Rewards member and you would like an upgrade if available. You'd be surprised how often people receive upgrades simply by asking.

  Carry your A+ card with you in transit to show AirTran staff at the airport. Often, the company offers its preferred customers special items, treats, food, etc. in transit. Enjoy your flight!
